What would make Apple harbinger a upgraded Xserve G5 just a calendar week before MacWorld ? Could it be that they ’re so crammed full of new product announcements that they ’re actually pushing stuff out early ? Wishful thinking , perhaps , and idle besides — this 2.3GHz Dual G5 rackmounted machine is a beauty . Why ca n’t all my machines be rackmounted , huh ? If I did n’t act videogames , I could ditch these goofy square machines forever and a day .
Slightly more plebian , though , is news that Apple has dropped the terms of the Cinema Displays , starting with the 20 - column inch modelling for $ 1,000 , up to the 30 - column inch for three large . ( Thanks , Lawrence ! )
