Casey and Morgan are quick to not work out at the Buy More and fall in Chuck ’s Italian extra force . All that require to take place is for Chuck to make Sarah bonk him again .
Most of the time I can leave that Chuck is , essentially , a soap opera that has episodic kung fu . Not that I think there ’s anything improper with a soap — basically , Buffy was a soap , as was Highlander and Oz ( yes , HBO ’s rapey , rapey Oz ) . But Chuck has a way of ladling that soapiness on so thick , complete with hushed tones and sappy medicine … I do n’t mind that Chuck is a show about two mass who are so right for each other but keep finding obstacle class them ; I just wish that , sometimes , it was n’t so brazen about it .

Chuck unloads his feelings on Sarah , only to be break up , for the 87 billionth prison term , by the dashing Shaw . leave alone it to , well , everyone else to get Chuck back on the formal . Morgan , Awesome , and Casey nobble the perverse soul right off the street , slap him in a suit , and prep to doss Shaw and Sarah ’s romanticist dinner . Too bad the Ring ’s also get their sights on Shaw .
After put forward “ the freakish house of cards of good looks ” to keep Awesome in the van , Morgan lure Shaw out from dinner party with a little interpreter - disguised bait . And while Shaw chase after a wild Morgan , Chuck moves in for yet another heartfelt confession . ( Which is sweet . Zachary Levi can sell the gratifying . But did we really need three of the same setting , over and over ? ) The Ring moves on Shaw , they tase Morgan , Curtis ( I do n’t be intimate his character ’s name , so I ’m calling him Curtis ) gets the drop on Shaw , Awesome tackles Shaw into a windowpane , and they land on Sarah ’s lap .
Shaw volunteers to give himself over to the Ring — if he hides a transponder in his tummy so that Beckman can launch an air work stoppage when Shaw gets within close proximity of the Ring ’s head honcho , the Director , the human race responsible for the execution of Shaw ’s wife . Mission carry out , retaliation achieved , posthumous +2 to charisma .
The rest of “ American Hero ” is just a dash to the end : Chuck traps Sarah in Castle to keep her safe before racing to Shaw ’s help ; the Ring nabs Shaw as project , but with Jeffster on their tail assembly ; Casey let ’s Sarah out of Castle so she can make it to the missile impact just in time to see Chuck carry an unconscious Shaw from the Ring ’s safehouse . Oh , and Shaw meets the Lord of the Ring ( the said Mark Sheppard ) , who reveals that Sarah was the person who killed Shaw ’s married woman on her Red Test .
Oh , SNAP .
Literally , “ click . ” Learning that the last of his darling number at the hand of the girl he ’s presently beloving charge Shaw over the cliff into an Oldboy - leveldanger zona . So just as Chuck and Sarah are eventually , FINALLY on the same love page ( thanks to Casey ’s coming clean about his role in Chuck ’s Red Test ) , Shaw takes Sarah for a last - minute ride into the desert . Where people sometimes get bushed .
One matter I ’ve always liked about Chuck is how each episode would terminate with a little worked up jog , pushing the character stories onwards . And while some very authoritative things find in “ Chuck Versus the American Hero , ” it experience like a whole caboodle of emotional jog . The tightrope that Chuck ’s walk since episode one , the cautiously modulated balance felt a fiddling bit off .
But it ’s still a hundred times better than The Marriage Ref . So we win .
