James Gunn ’s Superman — and with it , the full unleashing ofJames Gunn ’s DC Studios era — isn’t out until next summertime , but we have our first look at David Corenswet pulling on those famous red boots and get into character . This comes courtesy of Warner Bros. andJames Gunn ’s Instagram , which just warns us : “ Get ready . ” Look , up in the sky !
Originally titled Superman : Legacy , and now just Superman , the summertime 2025 release will not be an origin story , accord to Gunn himself . Filming kick back offearlier this year , and aside from a tiny tease of the suit publish with that annunciation , this is the best smell yet we ’ve gotten of Corenswet in character ; he ’ll be the first live - natural process , big - screen Superman since Henry Cavill diverge the role following that Black Adam cameo in 2022 .
The rest of Gunn ’s cast includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor — as well as Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen , Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl , Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mister Terrific , Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern , Wendell Pierce as Perry White , Pruitt Taylor Vince as Pa Kent , and more . Superman is due out July 11 , 2025 .
