Craig ’s remarks derive only day after the American Civil Liberties Union filed a ill with the Detroit Board of Police Commissioners seeking a public apology over the arrest of Robert Williams , a Black Michigander who was arrested in January after reportedly being incorrectly identified by DPD ’s facial identification system .
According to the complaint , DPD ’s scheme erroneously identified Williams as a shoplifter who ’d stolen lookout in a Detroit depot a class and a one-half earlier .
