Uh , so , Elon Musk is currently in an argument about a break wind unicorn . Yes , it ’s a little odd . Here ’s what ’s going on .
A 61 - year - sometime creative person call Tom Edwards drew a visage of a break wind unicorn back in 2010 . On the back it read " electrical cars are well for the environment because electricity comes from magic " .
Musk , CEO of electric car troupe Tesla of trend ( who ’s also celebrating his birthday today ) , apparently quite liked the mug . Because in February 2017 , he posted a picture of it on Twitter .

turn out he REALLY liked that drawing . Because in March 2017 , he twitch the epitome again , but this time it was drawn on a Tesla sketch pad , a concealed feature article in the car ’s fascia . He even apparently included it in a company Christmas card .
With us so far ? Okay , outstanding . In an interview withThe Guardian , Edwards said : “ I sleep together the fact that it ’s in the car . ” But he ’s not so happy that he plain has n’t been pay at all for his piece of work . And now he ’s convey a lawyer involved to action for copyright encroachment .
On May 23 , his attorney send out a letter to Tesla offering an “ invitation for all parties to continue to benefit from the whimsical , and amazingly spot - on piece of imagery my client create in 2010 . ”
Seems middling bare rightfield ? Just bear the guy . But , well , Musk appears to have get himself embroiled in an argument with the creative person ’s girl , Lisa Prank , on Twitter . She get down by saying Musk had “ ripped off ” her Dad ’s work .
Musk countered in a now - erase tweet by saying the picture was “ chosen randomly ” by his software squad , and would be happy to switch it . Prank responded , though , that Tesla had been using the “ originative property ” of Edwards for a year , and he should be compensated .
Musk did note afterwards that he had offered to pay Edwards double , although this has n’t been confirmed . But there were a couple of tweets that did n’t paint him in a great light , including saying that he had give the artistexposureand sire thousands of dollars for him , and then saying the drawing was “ something we do n’t even want . ”
Edwards did tellWestword , a local newspaper in Denver , that Musk ’s original tweet in February result in him sell 100 coffee fool . But he ’s still not impressed that the image has been used so wide by the ship’s company .
So , how is this all snuff it to get resolved ? Who knows . Edwards say he was still waiting for Musk ’s attorney to respond to his missive . Musk seems middling adamant that he ’s willing to compensate . Hopefully , we ’ll all get to enjoy break wind unicorns in peace again shortly .
