According to Reuters , Birkenstock convinced a Dusseldorf court that Amazon had come in ads for the misspelled variants of its name via Google AdWords . The cobbler worried that client could be tempt to buy counterfeit versions of their mathematical product , which in number could damage their mark .
Birkenstock has long feuded with Amazon over phoney versions of its footwear .
