judge by a letters patent filed in March , Google seem set to be changing the UI of Maps andStreet View , relieve oneself the image larger and work the navigational control on top of the image ( and to the right hand . )
Google ’s patent describes the change in UI as so —
“ schematic piloting control are often located on a tool bar in the UI which is freestanding from the image showing area . Having the navigation restraint located at a unlike positioning in the UI than the imagery can consume screen space which could be otherwise used for ply extra UI functionality , advertising and the similar . Moreover , have the pilotage controls separate from the imagination can force the user to take their eyes off the imagery while navigating . ”

alternatively of press the ascendancy to pan left , right , in and out and so on , users could just use the Modern drive - wheel to move to the locating desire . According to the patent , it “ allows the user to rotate swimmingly in all counsel without incremental stops . ”
I think perhaps the liberal challenge I face up every time I loadGoogle Mapsis related to Street View — namely , pinpointing the exact emplacement I wish to regard , and voyage down street using the arrow . Is there anything else you ’d wish to see changed in Google Maps or Street View ? [ Google patentviaGoRumors ]
UPDATE : Several commenters point out that the navigational controls are similar to that of Google Earth’s — something I had n’t substantiate , as I ca n’t remember the last time I look at it . It ’s dotty that in this day and age , you still have to download it to your desktop — why not integrate it into the web browser along with Google Maps ?

UPDATE 2 : Reader Hussain pointed my attention towardsthis spark plug - in which does just that . Enjoy .
