The European Commission is the a la mode govern body to jump on the Google antitrust dogpile . According to the FT , it’sabout to attend Google with a 400 - Thomas Nelson Page statement of objection , containing a litany of by - now familiar complaints .
The complaints against Google from the EC mirror the qualms the FTC has with the hunting whale . Mainly , that it ’s using its dominant post in the search mart to punish competitors and freeze out anyone else trying to betray ads . Specifically , it ’s accuse of punishing the rankings of other search engines ’ sites , giving its own sites preferential position , not allow site to practice competing ad service on their sites , and probably most nefariously , lower the search rankings of sites that bribe ad space on competing lookup engines .
The EC has been investigating Google since last November , after pocket-sized search engines Foundem , eJustice and Ciao ! complain that Google was n’t playing sightly . And while Google is fighting itsantitrust issues in America , it probably makes more sense for them to attempt to settle , since it ’s face a fairly massive fine . [ Financial Times ]
