Talking to the Cornell Chronicle , Banerjee explicate why these level are so great and worth learn :
“ What I detect particularly compelling about Russian SF – and it ’s true of all non - Western traditions of SF – is this dynamic where it is hyper aware of skill and applied science ’s role in global modernity , but then it refashion that relationship and produces its own specific example , ” pronounce Banerjee .
In Russia , skill fabrication writers were public intellectuals with considerable influence , according to Banerjee . “ Their parallel use was as thinkers of modernism , showing people how to record the present and future and how to imagine the U.S. , Russia and the rest of the earth – and they were prominent as voices of moral sense . ”
