Even the $ 100 penitentiary and the power to draw will have you feeling like you ’re carry a Surface Pro ( also starts at around $ 900 with penitentiary ) .
But two of those devices melt down Windows , and the other ’s a pill with iOS on it ! The Pixelbook is a laptop computer with Chrome O and the power to consort Android apps . While Google reps assure Gizmodo the ship’s company is work intimately with package maker to get Android apps looking bully on the Pixelbook , there were only a handful of apps set up on the demo units , and they all still did that thing where the app frantically resizes once it realizes its on a big 12.3 - column inch showing and not a tiny smartphone one . That does n’t exactly inspire confidence .

But gentleman , the hardware does ! After hear the lacklustre hardware on the Pixel 2 , getting my hired hand on the Pixelbook feel like a shiver . This affair has the kind of penetrating edges you await for a costly gadget , and the it ’s super brightness level , with just enough ponderosity to feel like quality . And it feels worlds better than the last cool Chromebook with pen input and a 360 - degree hinge , theSamsung Chromebook Pro . That $ 500 machine is one of my front-runner I ’ve seen this year . ( For what it ’s worth , I still matt-up like it was too expensive . )
Chrome OS still needs to in reality grow up .
