In case you missed it,Machine Gun Kellylaunched his very own line ofclean, vegan, cruelty-free, non-toxic nail polishes— which makes sense, after all. The rockstar has been showing off his freshly painted (and oftenelaborately decorated) fingers onsocial mediafor ages now, making his eye-catching digits a big part of his public persona.
UN/DNlaunched about eight months ago and has an appealing shade for everyone, including 20 colors, six top coats, and one base coat. I’m a beauty writer who’s covered celebrity-backed product launches for years, and the edgy nail lacquer intrigued me even as a gel manicure loyalist — because if it can stand up towhat MGK does on stage, it can probably last through anything.

I typically stay away from classic polish because I find that it chips easily, but Boyce (who I’m told worked closely on product development) assured me the top coat’s durability wouldn’t disappoint. At $18 a pop,the splatter lacquercomes in four versatile shades and is easy to apply. It adds an unexpectedly artsy, almost-graffiti-like effect to solid shades and bare nails alike.
By the time I returned home, my nails were in need of a refresh, and luckily, the manicure came off with ease with regular nail polish remover (a glorious change of pace from the hassle of gel removal.) My natural nails still looked healthy, so I decided to applyanother UN/DN polish— this time in a coral shade to offset my vacation tan.
