Kansas City Chiefs wide receiverXavier Worthywas arrested in Texas, but he won’t face charges.
The NFL player, 21, was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence on Friday, March 7, perWilliamson County online jail records. The charge is considered a third-degree felony, according to theTexas penal code.
However, on Saturday, March 8, Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick toldThe Austin American-Statesmanthat his office will not be accepting the case after multiple witnesses were spoken to.
“We will continue to evaluate the case. As is our practice with all declines, should you develop additional information indicative of probable cause in this case, our office will consider that information and may present the case at that time to a Williamson County Grand Jury," the statement continued.
Worthy has since been released from police custody.

Law enforcement toldTMZ— which first reported the news — that Worthy was initially behind held at the Williamson County jail without bail.
Worthy’s lawyers previously said in a statement shared with theThe Houston ChronicleandThe Austin-American Statesmanthat they were “aware of the allegation that led to Mr. Worthy’s arrest” and were “working with law enforcement in Williamson County to ensure they have the benefit of the totality of circumstances that led to this allegation.”

“We will continue to cooperate with the Williamson County authorities as we have full faith that their thorough investigation will support Mr. Worthy’s innocence,” the lawyers added.
Worthy’s lawyers, Sam Bassett and Chip Lewis, did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on March 8, nor did the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office or District Attorney Dick’s office.
