Matthew Perrylast posted on Instagram five days before hissudden death at age 54.
TheFriendsactor shared a nighttimephotoof himself inside a hot tub on Monday, Oct. 23, writing in the caption: “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”
“Mattman” is a name he’d used in recent days while posting on social media, often including references and imagery related toBatman.
The day before the hot tub photo, he wrote alongside a video of the moon, “Do you understand what I’m trying to tell you? - I’m Mattman.” And on Tuesday, Perrypostedon X, “Let’s make stigmas a stigma. -I’m Mattman #mentalhealth.”
But it wasn’t all Mattman: on Oct. 15, Perry had shared arare photo of himself with his father, actor John Bennett Perry. “Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage,” hewrotein the caption, garnering hundreds of thousands of likes from followers.
TMZ firstreportedon Oct. 28, citing law enforcement sources, that Perry was found dead in a jacuzzi at a home in Los Angeles. No drugs had been found at the scene, the outlet added.
According to the outlet, no foul play was suspected, and first responders were reportedly called to the residence for cardiac arrest.

The actor, who famously played Chandler Bing on the beloved sitcomFriends,opened up about addictionin a wide-ranging interview with PEOPLE in October 2022, also sharing his hopes for the future, includingwanting to become a parent.
He said at the time about writing his book, “I wanted to share when I was safe from going into the dark side of everything again. I had to wait until I was pretty safely sober — and away from the active disease of alcoholism and addiction — to write it all down.”
“And the main thing was, I was pretty certain that it would help people,” added Perry.
