Last weekend, two boys out walking their dog happened upon the remains of a missing 46-year-old South Dakota woman. Police allege her boyfriend killed and dismembered her before dumping her in a creek following an argument over accusations of infidelity.

PEOPLE obtained the arrest affidavit detailing the allegations against Stephen Falkenberg, 45.

LaFramboise’s mother reported her missing two weeks before her body was found. She was last seen leaving a convenience store in surveillance footage on March 1.

The affidavit alleges that Falkenberg, who is charged with second-degree murder, removed LaFramboise’s clothing before dismembering her corpse.

According to the affidavit, Falkenberg allegedly admitted to his daughter he pushed LaFramboise into a wall, and that the force from that blow killed her.

Investigators allege he drove LaFramboise’s dismembered body to a bridge not far from his brother’s home in Michigan, and threw it into the creek below.

The affidavit alleges the physical altercation followed a fight with LaFramboise. In a phone call to his daughter, Falkenberg allegedly said LaFramboise had swung a bat at him, striking his hand.

Police who spoke to him on March 6 noted he was wearing a brace on one of his hands.

The boys found parts of LaFramboise’s corpse on March 16. Some of her body parts remain missing.

An exact cause of death is still outstanding, but officials believe LaFramboise’s body was frozen for an unspecified amount of time before being dumped.

Falkenberg has not entered a plea to the charge against him. He remains in custody on $1 million bond.

If convicted, he faces life in prison.
